Internship of a Young Scientist in Norway - summary

On 30th of June, 2022, the internship of a young scientist ended. Maciej Szymanek, M.Sc., from the Department of Energy Resources, WGGiOŚ AGH University of Science and Technology, completed a 6-month internship within the framework of Work Package 3, which aims to conduct an experimental campaign to measure and verify the operating states of carbon dioxide as a working medium in CO2-EGS geothermal systems.

During the internship, the PhD student dealt with the temperature calibration, pressure calibration, preparation of CO2 + water mixtures, GC calibration, and preparation and improvement of the test apparatus, that is, work on hydraulics, leaks, electrics, insulation, and remote control.

- For me, such a research visit for six months is a great experience, both scientifically and in life. The opportunity to learn about Norwegian work culture, the concept of work-life balance and Norwegian friluftsliv with such beautiful Norwegian nature was something amazing. I would like to thank the Norwegian project partner, SINTEF Energy Research, for the warm welcome, the help at every step of the way and the opportunity to work in such a well-equipped laboratory and qualified staff, and all those who contributed to the success of this internship. I hope that my return to Poland is not the end of my adventure with SINTEF, so I do not say "goodbye" but "see you soon" - concludes Maciej.

We invite you to see a short photo-relation from the scientific research and stay in Trondheim, Norway.
