About EGS at AGH University

The topic of the use of EGS-enhanced geothermal systems was one of the leading themes of the Shallow and Deep Geothermal session at the 2nd Distributed Energy Scientific Conference KNER'2024, held within the walls of the AGH University of Krakow on October 30, 2024.

The scientific conference, together with the VII Distributed Energy Forum held on October 28 and 29, formed the 2nd Distributed Energy Congress (http://www.ker2024.pl) focusing on the local dimension of the energy transition and strengthening cooperation between its main stakeholders - the business community, academia, NGOs and central and local administration.

During the session, Prof. Anna Sowiżdżał presented the current and new directions of development of the geothermal sector in Poland, pointing out the technology of using enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) as future-oriented, and presenting the key results of the EnerGizerS project. Maciej Szymanek, M.Sc., in turn, presented his further work carried out within the framework of IDUB AGH funds using the results of the EnerGierS project, aiming at the preparation of his doctoral dissertation.
