Representation of the Department of Energy Resources of the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of AGH took part in the 50th Stanford Geothermal Workshop, which took place on February 10-12, 2025 at Stanford University in the United States.
The event was extremely popular - registration closed even before the workshop began due to a lack of available seats. The conference was attended by 400 people from more than 40 countries, including Poland. The workshop plays a key role in the exchange of knowledge and experience on innovative geothermal energy research around the world.
During the three-day session, both the plenary and technical sessions focused on research into the development of Enhanced Geothermal System technology. In one of the sessions, we presented the results of Polish research on the possibility of implementing this type of geothermal system in our country.
Participation in the event was an excellent opportunity to present the results of the EnerGizerS project, as well as the results of a current research project funded under the “Excellence Initiative - Research University” program at AGH on the life cycle analysis of geothermal systems. The idea of using CO2 as a working medium in EGS systems, which we are analyzing, is being researched and also implemented worldwide!
