Between 9 and 11 April 2025, the 16th edition of the European Geothermal PhD Days was held in Szeged. As part of the project Multi-criteria Life Cycle Assessment of Geothermal Installations, funded under the AGH University of Krakow programme Excellence Initiative – Research University, PhD candidate Maciej Szymanek presented a poster addressing the influence of geological conditions on the behaviour of working fluids in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS).
During the conference, Maciej Szymanek also delivered a presentation on the Polish experience in geothermal energy and presented selected outcomes of the EnerGizerS project, which are currently being further developed within ongoing research activities.
The conference programme additionally included technical visits to the geothermal district heating network operated by SZETÁV, as well as to the town of Szentes, where geothermal waters extracted from depths of approximately 2,000 metres and reaching temperatures above 80°C are widely utilised in agricultural applications, including greenhouse cultivation of peppers and tomatoes.
